Yeovil Town vs Forest Green Rovers Predictions

After making an unexpectedly good start to the campaign, Yeovil have come crashing back down to earth in recent times. Saturday’s hosts have lost each of their last three in the league, while they’ve now won just one of their last 11. Such form just won’t do, especially as far as Darren Way is concerned. Unless the manager can turn things around soon, then he’s likely to find himself without a club, such is the cutthroat nature of managing in the Football League.

Over the last couple of months good performances have been few and far between as far as Yeovil are concerned. Every now and then Darren Way’s men have delivered something promising, especially in the final third, but they tend to revert to being poor sooner rather than later. They offered a real threat going forward and ought to have scored three or four goals when losing against Morecambe at the start of November, but they’ve since failed to build on that, as each of their last two league performances have been weak.

Last time out especially, Yeovil struggled hugely to get going in the final third, as they clocked a measly 0.23 expected goals and managed just two shots on target, while they gave plenty away at the other end. On that occasion The Glovers were deservedly beaten, and their fate won’t be much different on Saturday unless they improve.

Forest Green also delivered a poor performance offensively last time out. Overall, Forest green haven’t been the best side going forward, but they’ve certainly dug in and made themselves tough to beat, which is certainly not something that can be said for Saturday’s hosts.

Even on their travels, Forest Green have proved that they’re not easy to get the better of. Saturday’s visitors have lost just twice away from home during the current campaign, while they’re yet to lose by more than a single goal. However, it would be wrong to say that Mark Cooper’s men have been formidable at the back when playing away from home, as they’ve conceded in 100% of their travelling matches, while they’re giving up an average of 1.58 expected goals.

While Forest Green have often prevented themselves from losing, they’ve struggled massively to keep teams out, so this is a good opportunity for the hosts to regain some confidence in front of goal. It is certainly true that Yeovil have been lacking in the final third at times, but on a few occasions, they’ve looked very good. If they can match the levels reached against either Mansfield or Exeter at this venue, both of whom they scored twice (and exceeded 2.0 expected goals for) against, then the Glovers can thrive.

At the prices, the bet that stands out is ‘Yeovil to Score Over 1.5 Goals’. The hosts do need to improve on their recent efforts, but they have shown that they’ve got a strong attacking performance in the locker, while Forest Green have found it very tough to keep teams at bay on their travels.
