Yeovil Town vs Newport County Predictions

With time fast running out before the season reaches it’s finale, there is little in the way of games left for sides in League Two to finish the campaign with enough points on the board to accomplish their goals. This weekend sees relegation threatened Yeovil Town look to take a huge stride to securing their Football League survival when they welcome a Newport County side who have little left to play for.

Yeovil Town have the first of what have been dubbed ‘seven cup finals’ this weekend and after parting company with boss Darren Way, the man who has been placed in interim charge, Neale Marmon, will hope his first game in interim charge of the team will see a turnaround in fortunes. The Glovers are in the midst of a relegation battle at the bottom of the division and will look to extend their current two point gap above the bottom two, however, they come into this contest on the back of four straight defeats and have the worst home record in the league.

Making the trip to Huish Park is a Newport County side who will see their season as mission accomplished as they have secured their survival with time to spare. The South Wales outfit head to Somerset in 14th place in League Two, and although they have an outside chance of making the play-offs, they would need a lot of results elsewhere go their way between now and May.

Although the hosts have made the brave step to part company with a long serving manager, the poor form shown by the Glovers looks like it will take a long time to rectify. The hosts have an awful home record and have failed to score in their previous four outings. This, combined with the fact their visitor’s season is basically over and they may be in holiday mode, leads us to believe that backing there to be less than 2.5 goals scored is the way to go.
