Young Boys vs Neuchatel Xamax Predictions

Young Boys and Neuchatel Xamax both picked up wins in the Schweizer Pokal last weekend, but its back to the bread and butter of the Super League on Saturday where the host will be aiming to maintain their 100% record. Neuchatel Xamax haven’t won since they beat Luzern in their first game of the new season and face the daunting task of taking on the league leaders in their own backyard this weekend.

Young Boys were made to work for their three points when they met Luzern in their last league game, eventually running out 3-2 winners. French striker Hoarau opened the scoring for the visitors in the twenty-fourth minute, and Young Boys held onto that lead into the half time break.

The hosts got back into the game via a sixty-seventh minute Schürpf penalty, but Luzern were only back on level terms for five minutes before Ngamaleu restored Young Boys one goal advantage. Hoarau scored a penalty of his own in the seventy-seventh minute to virtually wrap up the three points, but the hosts set up a nervy finish for the reining champions with an eighty-ninth minute strike from Gvilia to make it 3-2, but Young Boys held on to secure all three points.

Veteran striker Hoarau has been a revelation during his first four seasons at Young Boys with 68 goals scored, and this season looks likely to be as productive as the former PSG from man has netted four goals in his opening four Super League games.

Two first half penalties from Spielmann helped Thun to a 3-1 half time lead against Neuchatel Xamax in their last league game, though they were given a helping hand by Sejmenovic who got sent-off in the twenty-third minute. Karlen had pulled a goal back for the hosts to make it 2-1, but Sorgić netted late in the first half to restore Thun’s two goal advantage.

Sutter ended any faint hopes of a comeback for the hosts with Thun’s fourth goal of the game in the fifty-first minute, and the visitors own Karlen scored a fifth goal in the seventy-sixth minute to wrap up an impressive 5-1 win.

Karlen is the only player to have scored more than once in the league this season for Neuchatel Xamax, while Doudin and Nuzzolo have provided the main source of goals with two assists each. The bookmakers don’t fancy the visitors chances of success this weekend and its hardly surprising given the results both teams have had so far this season.

We’re confident that Young Boys will win on Saturday and that both teams will score in the process, with the hosts claiming a 4-2 victory. Young Boys have won each of their last five matches in all competitions and both teams have scored in each of the hosts last two matches.
Both teams have scored in three of Neuchatel Xamax’s last six matches, while Young Boys have won five of their last six competitive matches against Neuchatel Xamax and each of those victories have seen both teams score.
