Overwatch League Playoff Treble
Atlanta Reign finished the regular season unbeaten in Stage 4 and caused a shock by beating favorites San Fransico Shock in the first round of the playoffs. They dropped to the lower bracket after a brave 4-2 loss to the New York Excelsior and now face a team they beat in cozy fashion back in July in the form of the Hangzhou Spark.
The third seed in the playoffs, the Shock were subject to an upset when beaten by the in-form Atlanta Reign in the first round of the playoffs. That was no disgrace, however, and they were back on track when slamming last year’s Champions the London Spitfire in Loser’s Round 1. Their best will be more than enough to beat the Gladiators, who they knocked off back in August.
Number 1 seed in the playoffs, the Vancouver Titans have won both their playoff matches by a 4-2 scoreline. They face the New York Excelsior in the Winner’s Final and although the Excelsior has looked much better in the playoffs, the Titans have been the dominant force all season and deserve their Grand Final spot. The Excelsior has previously been very inconsistent in playoff matches, which aides their cause.
