Leeds 3-1

Reason for tip

Leeds thrashed Cardiff 5-2 in their third-round replay and another high-scoring game could ensue. They defeated Stanley’s fellow League One side Barnsley 3-1 earlier this season nd that could be repeated.

  • Leeds have scored and conceded in six of their last nine away games.

Goals look guaranteed at Wham Stadium

Goals look guaranteed when Accrington Stanley welcome Leeds to Wham Stadium for Saturday’s early game in the FA Cup fourth round. The Whites avoided a banana skin in the form of Championship strugglers Cardiff in the previous round when Sonny Perkins’ stoppage-time leveller earned a replay in Wales.

Like Leeds, Accrington needed a replay to overcome their third-round opponents. They needed extra time to beat non-league Boreham Wood too and a penalty to get it done.

That game can be seen as a bit of a one-off because of the huge prize at stake for both clubs in terms of Leeds awaiting and probably led to the sides canceling each other out.

More direct approach can unsettle Whites

Stanley, who sit just above the relegation zone in League One, are not going to match Leeds for quality – but they can unsettle their defenders by mixing things up and going a bit more route one than they have in recent years. Recent opponents have remarked how much more direct John Coleman’s side have become.

Leeds are not a small side, but some of their players will be unused to dealing with a barrage of long balls into the box and could concede that way. Jesse Marsch’s men are not the strongest defensive unit anyway and a both teams to score play looks worth adding into the bet.

Stanley have scored in four of their last six FA Cup ties, albeit none of those were against top-flight opponents. Leeds have played one other League One side this season – Barnsley – and won 3-1 – which looks like a good basis for any correct score calculation.
