Conference League Outright Winner Prediction
Copenhagen made the Champions League last 16 earlier this year, making it through a group that contained Bayern Munich, Manchester United and Galatasaray. They finished four points off the Danish title in May and slipped into the Conference League as a result, where the change in format offers them a path to glory. After a decent summer transfer window and a strong domestic start, Copenhagen can make an impact in a competition which has a vulnerable trio of favourites.
European Trophy Treble Tip
Real Madrid clinched a record-extending 15th Champions League trophy at Wembley last season and they look good value to make it 16 in Munich next year.
They have won 15 of their 18 appearances in the final and have won six of the last 11 instalments, with their last defeat in the final of this competition coming back in 1981 against Liverpool.
Los Blancos’ storied history in this competition would have put them among my favourites for the trophy even before their business in the summer, but the transfer window has been kind to them and they head into the 2024/25 campaign with arguably the best squad in the world.
The world-class talents of Jude Bellingham and Vinicius Junior remain instrumental to Carlo Ancelotti’s side, but the arrival of arguably the world’s best player in Kylian Mbappe could send them stratospheric.
As if that wasn’t enough, teenage sensation Endrick has also arrived in the Spanish capital and scored on his home debut against Real Valladolid.
Led by a manager who has won the Champions League a record five times with two separate teams, it would take a brave man to oppose Real Madrid.
Athletic Bilbao have clear motivation for a deep Europa League run – as their San Mames stadium will host the final in May. Spain star Nico Williams has hung around for another season dreaming of European glory with his boyhood club in their home ground.
Athletic won the Copa del Rey last term and they’re seen as the strongest Spanish side in the competition. With eight of the last 11 seasons seeing a Spanish winner of the Europa League, Athletic are standout value at 12/1.

How does the Europa Conference League work?
Strap yourselves in – it gets complicated. Think of the Europa Conference League as the Europa League’s little brother, or third-tier (with the biggest brother being, of course, the Champions League). There are a whole manner of ways in which teams can qualify.
From winning domestic tournaments to finishing in a set spot in the league, different leagues have different methods of allocating their entries into the Europa Conference League. No teams directly qualify to the group stages; all must make their way through the qualifying rounds and play-offs, apart from the ten teams eliminated from the Europa League play-offs, who enter the tournament in the group stage.
The tournament begins with four rounds, usually filled with teams from small leagues, teams that finished outside the UEFA Europa League spots in the biggest European leagues, and 10 losers from the UEFA Europa League play-off round.
The official competition begins with a 48-team group stage, made up of 12 groups containing four teams each. In each group, each team plays each other twice, once home and once away. The top two qualify.
Then the knockout stage begins with the round of 32, where those who qualified from the group stage are joined by eight teams that finished 3rd in their UEFA Europa League groups. During the knockout stages there are two legs in each fixture, except the final, which is a stand-alone match.
Our Europa Conference League tips cover all the games, from the group stage right through to the final.
When is each stage?
The qualifying rounds take place over the summer, while the group stage takes place between 8 September and 3 November 2022. The dates for the knockout rounds are as follows…

13 April: Quarter-finals, 1st leg
20 April: Quarter-finals, 2nd leg

18 May: Semi-finals, 2nd leg
Our Europa Conference League predictions will cover all these matches in fantastic detail.
When is the Europa Conference League final?

Which teams are in the Europa Conference League?
At the moment, we are still going through the play-offs for the 2022-23 Europa Conference League, but the teams still in contention are as follows:
AIK, Anderlecht, Antwerp, APOEL, AZ Alkmaar, Ballkani, Basel, CFR Cluj, CSKA-Sofia, Diddeleng, Djugarden, FCSB, Fehervar, Fiorentina, Gil Vicente, H. Beer-Sheva, Hajduk Split, Hamrun, Istanbul Basaksehir, Koln, Lech, Linfield, M. Tel-Aviv, Maribor, Molde, Nice, Partizan, Rakow, Rapid Wien, RFS, Shkupi, Slavia Praha, Slovacko, Slovan Bratislava, Twente, Universitatea Craiova, Vaduz, Viborg, Viking, Villarreal, West Ham, Wolfsberg, Young Boys, & Zrinjski.
So those are the teams, but it’s worth getting to know the players. For example, finding out the current top scorer could help inform where to place your next bet.
