Angers inconsistencies

Angers are coming off the back of an impressive win away to Reims last time out but their only consistency being how inconsistent they are is what’s preventing them from seriously challenging for the European qualification places. That win over Reims was just their second victory in their last eight matches and another win here would be the first time they have achieved back-to-back wins since August. They are consistent scorers, however, netting in 19 of their previous 20 Ligue 1 matches.

Clermont Foot began the campaign in fine form as they went unbeaten in their opening four matches, however, they’ve lost nine of the following 13 games up to this point and manager Pascal Gastien has a pretty woeful record when taking on Angers, winning just one of his seven matches against them. Combine that with the fact that the visitors have not won away from home since their first game on the road this season and have failed to score in their last 206 minutes of action, it would suggest it’s incredibly unlikely they’ll secure a win here.

Angers to go back-to-back

The visitors have been awful on the road this season and everything points to Angers securing back-to-back wins. We think that’s exactly what will happen and a 2-0 win for the hosts looks likely.
