Newcastle Double Chance (Win or Draw)

Reason for tip

Arsenal are without a win in their four home games since they beat Real Madrid at the Emirates and their wait for a victory could go on. Newcastle have had the Gunners’ number this season, winning all three meetings by an aggregate score of 5-0 and they are fancied to take at least a point from this one.

Arsenal vs Newcastle Predictions

  • Arsenal are winless in their last five matches
  • Newcastle have beaten Arsenal three times already this season
  • Nine of the last ten head-to-heads have gone under 2.5 goals

Newcastle could sneak second

Newcastle were as big as 375/1 to finish in the top two of the Premier League back in December but a remarkable second half of the season means that they could overtake Arsenal to go second in the table if they beat the Gunners on Sunday.

Eddie Howe’s men moved to within touching distance of confirming a top-five finish with a battling 2-0 win over Chelsea last weekend and they now travel to take on an Arsenal team who have lost three and drawn two of their last five games.

This pair have met three times already this season, once in the league and in both legs of the EFL Cup semi-final, with Newcastle running out winners without conceding on all three occasions.

Magpies may pull off a shock

Mikel Arteta’s side suffered heartbreak in the Champions League semi-final against Paris Saint-Germain but did well to bounce back and draw 2-2 against Liverpool last weekend.

However the injuries are piling up for the home side, with Declan Rice, Gabriel, Kai Havertz and Leandro Trossard expected to miss this clash while Mikel Merino is suspended after being sent off against the Reds.

Newcastle have won eight of their last ten games in all competitions and look to have a solid chance of at least avoiding defeat against an understrength Arsenal side that are playing for pride.

Arteta’s men might be in for a tough test

The Gunners have struggled defensively recently by their usual high standards, conceding nine goals in their last five outings, and Newcastle’s star striker Alexander Isak has a solid record against these opponents, netting twice in the three meetings between this pair this term.

The hosts are without a home win since they beat Real Madrid 3-0 last month with draws against Brentford and Crystal Palace coupled with a defeat to Bournemouth.

The motivated Magpies are a significant step up on that level of opponent and Arsenal could find themselves falling short.

Newcastle are fancied to all but wrap up a top-five spot with by taking at least a point from this trip to the Emirates, take the visitors in the double chance market.

Super Swede to strike again

Matches between these two teams have typically been low-scoring affairs, in fact nine of the last head-to-heads have gone under 2.5 goals and a repeat of that is fancied in a 1-1 correct score bet.

The aforementioned Alexander Isak has 23 league goals this season and could add to that against a team he has been linked with in the past.
