Finals awaits La Dea or Lazio

Atalanta entertain Lazio in the second leg of the Coppa Italia semi-finals on Wednesday with the tie finely poised at 2-2.

Lazio led twice in the first leg but only for a combined total of six minutes. On the balance of play a draw was probably a fair result on the night and now Atalanta look well placed to reach the showpiece with home advantage in the return fixture.

La Dea lost to Juventus in Bergamo at the weekend in Bergamo but that was just their third home Serie A defeat of the season. They’ve won six of their last nine home games across all competitions and they are facing a side who have struggled in general on their travels this season.

Lazio have won just five of their 17 Serie A trips, losing six, and they’ve found goals hard to come by on the road – scoring just 12 across those 17 games.

Atalanta are unbeaten against Lazio this season with four points from the two games in Serie A and the first leg draw, they can maintain that dominance with a victory on Wednesday.

This game is likely to be tight and with a place in the final at stake both teams will leave it all on the line. The first leg was close and both teams showed plenty of attacking intent and we could be in line for more of the same in the return fixture. With Atlanta expected to make home advantage count, a 2-1 La Dea win has a chance as Lazio have scored in six of their last seven games and can at least get on the scoresheet.

Mario Pasalic has starred in the cups for Atalanta and he looks a contender for a goal here. The Croatian scored in the first leg and has three goals in as many games in the Coppa Italia, while he also managed three strikes in nine Champions League appearances.
