Lyon can boost European hopes

Lyon’s superior attacking threat makes them the bet away at Auxerre on Sunday. Paulo Fonseca’s side have the edge in front of goal and can secure the win at Stade de l’Abbe-Deschamps.

Lyon are fifth in Ligue 1, ten places above Auxerre, with 14 wins, six draws and eight defeats from their 28 games this season. Auxerre are tenth, having won ten, drawn eight and lost ten.

Lyon beat Lille 2-1 last weekend, in what was their sixth win in eight Ligue 1 games. Priced at 5/4 to win the game, they justified their position as favourites and competed well in Thursday’s 2-2 draw against Manchester United in the first leg of their Europa League quarter-final.

Auxerre have lost ten league matches this season, three of them by a 2-0 scoreline, and Lyon to win away 2-0 looks a decent correct-score bet even if Fonseca decides to rotate some of his team with a trip to Old Trafford on the horizon.
