Barcelona and Both Teams To Score

Reason for tip

Barcelona have scored in 16 consecutive matches across all competitions, but just one clean-sheet in 12 underlines where their problems lie. They should have enough to see off Osasuna, but the visitors have scored in 12 La Liga games on the spin, a record they can extend in Catalonia.

Barcelona 3-1

Reason for tip

Barcelona won by a two-goal margin when these two sides met in the Spanish Super Cup earlier this month and they can repeat that trick now, although 3-1 rather than 2-0 looks the most likely outcome given the Blaugrana’s propensity for conceding goals.

Barcelona vs Osasuna Predictions

  • Barcelona have conceded in 11 of their last 12 games
  • The Blaugrana have won seven of their last eight against Osasuna, drawing the other
  • Osasuna have scored in 12 La Liga matches on the spin

Barca to win entertaining match

It has been a turbulent few days for Barcelona, as Saturday’s 5-3 home defeat to Villarreal – a third loss in five matches – was followed by the news that Xavi will be stepping down as head coach at the end of the season.

The first match following that announcement will be Wednesday’s home clash with Osasuna and there could be plenty of entertainment on show given Barca have scored in 16 consecutive matches but have only kept one clean-sheet in 12.

Osasuna also tend to provide entertainment, netting in 12 La Liga matches on the spin, and Jagoba Arrasate’s side can get on the scoresheet again in Catalonia, but Barca should still have enough about them to return to winning ways.

Hosts have Osasuna’s number

Off the back of Saturday’s home defeat to Villarreal, a clash with Osasuna should be a favourable fixture for Barca, as they are unbeaten in their last eight meetings with the Pamplona outfit, winning seven of those games.

Barca won by two-clear goals when the two sides last met in the Spanish Super Cup earlier this month and it would be no surprise to see the same margin of victory for the hosts on Wednesday.

With both teams expected to score, 3-1 could be a likely outcome, a result Barca enjoyed as recently as January 18th when they saw off Unionistas de Salamanca in the Copa del Rey.
