Belgium vs Kazakhstan Predictions

Belgium continue their bid for Euro 2020 glory this week. The Red Devils should have been in the Nations League semi-finals in midweek, but their 5-2 loss to Switzerland back in November put them out of contention. That blow cost Roberto Martinez the chance to win a first piece of international silverware for himself and Belgium. In many ways, the next European Championship is a huge moment for Belgium’s golden generation. Can they take a step towards qualifying with a win on Saturday?

The Red Devils come into this clash with two wins from two behind them. That’s hardly a surprise, as their World Cup qualifying campaign brought them 28 points from a possible 30. In that time the side scored an impressive 43 goals, which averaged out at 4.3 per game. They were in rampant form going forward, qualifying in style. The same is expected this time around, as Belgium will be heading to the tournament as one of the teams to fear in the tournament.

Kazakhstan have seen their best chance at Euro 2020 qualification come and go. They secured just six points in their six matches in the UEFA Nations League, finishing 10 points behind group winners Georgia who secured a playoff place. They did kick off with an impressive 3-0 victory over Scotland back in March, but they face a tough fight for second place behind Cyprus, Russia and the Scots.

Even if Kazakhstan are going to make a fight for second, their result away to Belgium isn’t likely to factor in. This is a clash all of the other contenders are likely to lose, based on the Red Devils’ record in qualifying. On top of that, Kazakhstan finished bottom of their World Cup qualifying group, ending up with a -20 goal difference. Most of their issues came on the road – conceding 17 goals in their five away trips.

Meanwhile, Belgium were in great scoring form in their home games. They scored at least four in four of their five home games. They should rack up the goals here, with Kazakhstan losing 4-0 against Russia in their last game. We’re backing something similar from the Red Devils here – we’re backing over 3.5 goals for the hosts along with a 4-1 home win.
