Reason For Blackburn Rovers vs Fulham Predictions

  • Only two teams have conceded less goals than Fulham away from home in the Championship this season.
  • Blackburn have the fourth-best home defensive record in the Championship at present.
  • Both Blackburn and Fulham rank inside the top seven when it comes to clean sheets in the Championship.

Ewood Park a fortress

It’s been a pleasing few weeks for Blackburn, who’ve ticked along nicely and by avoiding defeat in each of their last four, two of which they’ve won, have crept to within six points of the coveted play-off places. In fact, it’s been a good few months for Rovers, who’ve lost just two of their last 14 league matches.

Home is certainly where the heart is for Tony Mowbray’s men, who’ve not tasted defeat at Ewood Park since late September. They’ve since won five and drawn five in front of a home crowd. Without setting the world alight, they’ve been useful going forward during that time, but it is their grit and ability to restrict teams that has stood out. Rovers have conceded just three goals in their last six home games, keeping three clean sheets in the process.

Cottagers in the hunt

Fulham’s promotion push has gained momentum of late. Undeterred by their recent FA Cup defeat in Manchester, the Cottagers have avoided defeat in each of their last four Championship matches, three of which they’ve won. As a result, Saturday’s visitors find themselves just four points behind league leaders West Brom.

Like Saturday’s hosts at home, Fulham have done a good job of keeping teams at bay on the road. Only two of their top-six rivals have conceded fewer travelling goals than Parker’s men, who’ve conceded only 14 goals in 15 travelling matches. Offensively, they’ve not been overly flamboyant, scoring just 16, but they’ve often not needed to be. The visitors come into this match having kept a clean sheet in each of their last two travelling matches. They also rank as the second-best Championship team when it comes to shots on target conceded on the road.

Goals to be few and far between

When we look at the performances of both Blackburn at home and Fulham on the road, particularly over the last month or so, ‘Under 2.5 Goals’ appeals. Blackburn haven’t scored too many goals at Ewood of late, notching more than once in just one of their last five, but they’ve also done an excellent job of restricting teams, conceding just three goals during that time. Much the same can be said for the visitors, who’ve seen just a single goal go in in their last 180 minutes of travelling football. Additionally, less than three goals have been scored in 64% of Fulham’s away matches, as well as in 60% of Blackburn’s home games.
