Brighton vs Blackburn Predictions
These are worrying times for Blackburn fans. Faced with financial problems and transfer bans, Rovers have lost Rudy Gestede and Joel King, two of their most dangerous attacking players and are desperately trying to avoid losing a third striker this summer with Jordan Rhodes attracting big money bids. Inevitably losing so many goals from their side is going to have a negative effect and they remain fairly shaky at the back as they were for much of last season despite finishing in the top half.
They have started the season poorly, failing to win any of their opening 4 matches including a Capital One Cup defeat to Shrewsbury and on paper this weekend’s match is their toughest game so far. By contrast Brighton are unbeaten, winning 3 of their 4 games, impressive given that this will be only their second match at the AmEx.
Therefore you’d have to fancy Albion to win this one based on performances and results coming into the game. Despite finishing 11 places below Blackburn last season, Brighton still managed to take 4 points off the Lancashire club and won the most recent meeting in March. There is much more of a positive feel good factor about the club at the moment in contrast to the gloom of the last campaign and certainly in contrast to cash-strapped Blackburn. With the backing of what will be a large home crowd, they are good value to win the game at Evens.
They are not the sort of side to run away with matches though and all their wins so far have been by a single goal. Rovers have scored in all of their last 8 Championship fixtures so you’d have to fancy them to nick a goal at some point in the game.
However Brighton look the stronger side right now and have got into a nice habit of winning football games so backing the Seagulls to secure a 2-1 win at 11/2 is surely worth a punt.
