Brighton to Win

Reason for tip

Brighton have been out of form for some time but they can end their season on a high note with victory against Manchester United. Albion have raised their levels against the big teams, having beaten Aston Villa and draw with Newcastle recently, and they have an excellent record against their opponents – winning each of the last four league meetings. United are winless in five away and have lost three of those, so back them to fall short in their bid to snatch seventh place here.

Brighton 2-1

Reason for tip

A 2-1 win for Brighton has a chance as they face a United side that have been leaking goals on their travels. United have conceded at least twice in five of their six games away from Old Trafford, including the FA Cup semi-final. but they have only failed to score in one of their last 12 trips.

Joao Pedro To Score Anytime

Reason for tip

Brighton’s Joao Pedro had struggled for form after returning from injury but he looks to be getting his rhythm back and he comes into the game after managing a goal and an assist in his last two appearances, so back him to make it 10 Premier League goals for the season with an anytime effort against United.

Brighton vs Manchester United Predictions

  • Brighton have won their last four Premier League games against Manchester United.
  • United are winless in five on their travels, with three defeats.
  • Joao Pedro has one goal and one assist in his last two games.

Albion can end United’s Europe hopes

Manchester United head to Brighton on Sunday knowing they will qualify for Europe next season if they better Newcastke’s result, but this looks a stern test for Erik ten Hag’s side.

United will qualify for the Europa League if they win the FA Cup but seventh place would see them secure a Europa Conference League place irrespective of what happens at Wembley later this month.

Brighton’s season petered out some time ago but they have been able to raise their game on occasion, and their recent record against the visitors suggests they can end the campaign on a high.

Home win appeals

Defeat for Manchester United would see them record their lowest ever finish in the Premier League era, and Brighton may be able to ensure that happens at the Amex on Sunday.

Albion won the reverse fixture 3-1 and they have won each of their last four league games against the Red Devils, although United did beat the Seagulls in the FA Cup semi-finals on penalties last season.

Brighton have been in poor form for some time now and have just one win in nine games since their European exit. However, that success did come against top four outfit Aston Villa and they’ve also performed well against Newcastle and Chelsea recently, so they can pick themselves up for this season finale against United.

The visitors overcame Newcastle 3-2 at Old Trafford in midweek but they were arguably lucky to claim maximum points. The fact they are winless in five on the road, losing three of those games, also suggests Brighton can make home advantage count here.

Pedro a goal threat

A 2-1 win for Brighton is the correct score prediction as United have conceded at least twice in five of their last six games not at Old Trafford, but they have only failed to score in one of their last 12 away games and can at least get on the scoresheet here.

Finally, an anytime effort from Joao Pedro has a chance after two strong performances from the Brazilian. Pedro had struggled for form after returning from injury but he comes into the game after managing a goal and an assist in his last two appearances, so he can make it 10 Premier League goals for the season against United.
