Brighton to Win

Reason for tip

Brighton have won three of their last four home matches, while they’ve won their last two meetings with Man United. The Red Devils have lost six of their seven visits to the top nine and they’ve won just one of their last 13 league games at a side starting the day in the top 10 (L9).

Brighton 2-0

Reason for tip

United have conceded 27 goals against the current top nine, while they have let in at least two in all seven of those matches. Brighton are in scoring form with 14 goals in their last four home league games and they dominated the ball when these two sides met at Wembley last month.

Pascal Gross To Score Anytime

Reason for tip

Gross scored twice against Wolves at the weekend and he has a great record against Man United. He’s hit six goals against the Red Devils, with only Mohamed Salah scoring more against United since the 2017/18 campaign.

Brighton vs Manchester United Predictions

  • United have won one of their last 13 league visits to sides starting the day in the top 10
  • The Red Devils have lost six of seven visits to the current top nine, conceding 27 times
  • Brighton have won three of their last four at home, scoring 14 times
  • Only Mo Salah has scored more Premier League goals against Man United than Brighton’s Gross since 2017

Brighton hit six and aim for fifth

Brighton put in a brilliant performance on Saturday as they crushed Wolves 6-0, including four strikes in the first 40 minutes of the game. That thumping win has the Seagulls eighth, but they have the chance to gain some ground with games in hand on their rivals.

Roberto De Zerbi’s side can probably give up any Champions League dreams having fallen 11 points shy of fourth-placed Man United, but they’re just four points shy of fifth having played two fewer games than Liverpool.

The Seagulls look good for a European finish as they hed into the final month of the season. While there won’t be a Wembley appearance next month to cap off a great season, De Zerbi and co. can claim revenge for their semi-final loss to United with a win this week.

Tough test for Ten Hag

United have come a long way since their opening day defeat at the hands of Brighton, but the Red Devils have been plagued by issues on the road all season long. The next step for them is to pull off a big away win, which the Dutchman has failed to deliver since taking charge.

United have won just one of their last 13 Premier League away games against sides starting the day in the top half of the table, losing nine. That one victory was against newly promoted Fulham in November. The Red Devils have also failed to keep a clean sheet in any of these 13 games since beating Spurs 3-0 in October 2021.

Against the current top nine, United have lost six of their seven away trips. They’ve also conceded at least twice in every one of those games, letting in a total of 27 goals. Having just seen Brighton run out 6-0 winners at the weekend, an injury-hit United side should be concerned going into this one.

Seagulls can punish United again

Brighton have won their last two Premier League games against Manchester United and they’re worthy favourites to make it three in a row. Historically this hasn’t been a kind venue for the visitors, who have lost three of their five Premier League games against Brighton at the Amex Stadium. That’s their worst record of any ground they’ve visited five times or more in the modern era.

While United have been in good form in the league of late, they’ve proven this term that they can’t be trusted in a trip like this. The Seagulls have hit 14 goals across their last four at home – winning three – and look the value to see off a United side who they dominated at Wembley last month. The advantage of the Amex should see Brighton claim a win this time around.

United should be wary of Brighton’s Pascal Gross here, after his double at the weekend. The midfielder has scored six Premier League goals against the Red Devils, more than he has against any other opponent. Since 2017-18 only Mohamed Salah (10) has scored more against the Red Devils than Gross, so back him to build on his weekend brace.
