Brighton vs Newcastle Predictions
- Over 3.5 goals has landed in each of Brighton’s last three games.
- There have been at least four goals scored in three of Newcastle’s last four games.
- Both teams average over three goals per-game in the league.
European hopefuls clash on the south coast
Brighton and Newcastle meet at the Amex Stadium on Sunday in a key game in the battle for the European spots.
The Magpies have Champions League qualification in their sights, while eighth place may be enough for Brighton to qualify for the Conference League.
Newcastle are in fine form with seven wins in their last eight across all competitions and they look the more likely victors. However, Brighton have only lost three of their 17 home games and they claimed what has to be a confidence boosting comeback win over West Ham last time out, recovering from 2-1 down to win 3-2 with two late goals, so better angle for our main bet could be the goals markets.
Over 3.5 goals a strong chance
Brighton’s Premier League games average 3.3 goals per-game and Newcastle’s average 3.2, and both have been involved in some high-scoring games of late.
Over 3.5 goals has been a winning bet in each of Brighton’s last three games and in three of the visitors’ last four.
Both of these sides also look capable of contributing as Newcastle have gone nine games without drawing a blank across all competitions and Albion have hit 11 goals in total across their last six home games, so there is a good chance these two sides can combine for at least four goals.
Newcastle can edge thriller
The lure of Champions League football has to be a bigger motivator than a chance of sneaking into the Conference League, and as Newcastle are the team in the better form they may be able to battle to a vital victory here.
Brighton were winless in six across all competitions before their late show against the Hammers, whereas Newcastle have seven wins in their last eight games.
A 3-2 win for Eddie Howe’s men is the correct score pick as Newcastle have scored at least three goals in four of their last five games, while Brighton can keep this tight and they have struck at least twice in six of their last eight home assignments.
Alexander Isak hit his 22nd league goal of the season in Newcastle’s win over Ipswich last time out and he looks a decent contender for an anytime effort. Harvey Barnes is a bigger price option and could also be considered in the to score or assist market, as he has four goals and two assists across his last six games.
