Draw

Reason for tip

In their first game back after the international break, the two sides are likely to cancel each other out. Brighton have only picked up four points at home this season, but they are still undefeated on the south coast, while Newcastle have drawn all three of their away games in the Premier League.

Draw 1-1

Reason for tip

Brighton will expect to find the back of the net, having scored 10 times in seven matches and only six teams have scored more goals than the Seagulls. Games involving these two sides are usually competitive affairs, with both teams scoring in five of the last six fixtures.

Nick Woltemade To Score Anytime

Reason for tip

Striker Nick Woltemade has made a big impression already on Tyneside and he is in a rich vein of form. The former Stuttgart man has scored four goals in seven appearances for the Magpies, while he scored his first senior goal for Germany in his team’s 1-0 win over Northern Ireland on Monday.

Brighton vs Newcastle Predictions

  • Brighton have yet to lose at home this season, while Newcastle are unbeaten away from home
  • Both teams have found the back of the net in five of the last six meetings between the two clubs
  • Nick Woltemade has scored four goals in his last four appearances for club and country

Tough to split ambitious duo

The return of the Premier League will be welcomed by both Brighton and Newcastle, who have both been in good form to start the season.

While the pair sit 11th and 12th in the Premier League table, both teams have only lost two games each from their opening seven fixtures and there should be plenty of optimism in both camps.

Brighton have avoided defeat at home so far this season, beating Manchester City and keeping Tottenham at bay in a 2-2 draw.

The Seagulls have also beaten Chelsea away from home and they should be a tough nut to crack. Sadly for Fabian Hurzeler’s outfit, the Magpies have been robust at the back, with only Arsenal conceding fewer goals.

Eddie Howe’s team have yet to lose on the road and after three wins in four games, they will travel to the south coast with a spring in their step.

History should repeat itself

While Newcastle’s defensive record has been impressive this season, this fixture is often a banker for an end-to-end battle.

Both teams have scored in seven of the last nine meetings between the pair since 2021. Brighton’s xG of 11.2 is only bettered by four teams, while Newcastle’s is a healthy 8.4. Both sides have averaged over 11 shots each per game, and there’s every chance we will witness another lively affair at the AMEX Stadium this weekend.

Magpies frontman to maintain recent form

Plenty was asked of Newcastle striker Nick Woltemade when he joined from Stuttgart this summer. The German was viewed as Alexander Isak’s direct replacement and that comes with added pressure.

The youngster has taken all of it in his stride and he has been a revelation in the final third for Howe’s side.

Woltemade has scored four goals in his first seven appearances for the Magpies, while he will return to club duty with confidence, having scored his first senior goal for Germany in Monday’s 1-0 win over Northern Ireland.

The 23-year-old has been efficient and deadly, scoring three goals in the Premier League from just six shots and his height and power in the box should cause Brighton some problems.
