Brisbane Roar vs Sydney FC Predictions, Betting Tips and Match Previews

Brisbane Roar kicked off their Asian Champions League campaign in midweek with a 6-0 hammering of Phillipino side Global, with that victory making it three on the bounce in all competitions after they managed to break out of a poor run of three consecutive league defeats.

The hosts’ chances for the Hyundai A-League Premiership are all but gone now, as Sydney FC sit a huge 15 points clear of them with just ten games left to play. However, they are only eight points inside the playoff zone and know they need to keep picking up wins if they want a shot at the Championship later this season.

Brisbane Roar’s home league form is a bit inconsistent though. They lost for the first time this season at the start of January in a rather unexpected 3-2 defeat to Newcastle Jets. They have since bounced back with a win, but they have still only won four of their last eight at home. One of these was a 1-1 draw with Sydney FC though.

The visitors have been absolutely sensational this season. They managed to beat 2nd placed Melbourne Victory 2-1 last Thursday to take themselves 11 points clear at the top of the pile, and 17 games into the league season and they remain undefeated. Their only loss of the season was against Melbourne City in the FFA Cup Final.

Sydney FC did have a bit of a blip back in November, but in the league they have now won six of their last seven games and have won eight of their nine away days this season. That 1-1 draw with Brisbane Roar mark their only dropped points on the road this season.

It was Filip Holosko who got the opener for the visitors last weekend, but Alex Brosque has been the star of the show more often than not this season. He has scored nine league goals in just 12 starts for the club and five of them have come away from home. He looks the best choice for our anytime goalscorer predictions.

A high scoring game looks to be on the cards here. Sydney FC have seen at least three goals in each of their last four away days, scoring themselves an impressive 13 times. Brisbane Roar have been involved in high scoring matches in three of their last four at home too, so odds of 4/5 for Over 2.5 Goals look good value for money. I’m going for a 2-1 win for the visitors at 8/1 for my correct score predictions too.
