      Tip Reasoning

The odds for this game suggests that the bookies have some confidence that Brentford’s 4-2 win at Bristol City showed that they are still a force to be reckoned with in this league but perhaps they have been a little swift to come to that conclusion.

Brentford relied on two stoppage time goals to rescue a point on the opening day and were thrashed 4-0 at home by League 2 Oxford in the Capital One Cup. Not the start that new boss Marinus Dijkhuizen would have hoped for. They were on the back foot in Bristol early on too and looked very shaky at the back conceding twice in the opening 25 minutes but came back to win the game after the hosts were reduced to 10 men.

Burnley who have a similar squad to the one that gained promotion two seasons ago look very long odds at 29/20 to win this game on home soil despite their poor start. They do seem to be suffering from something a Premier League hangover but Sean Dyche is an excellent young manager and will have them fired up for this game.

Even in the Premier League, they were often quite tough to beat at Turf Moor and they’re likely to win a lot of games at home in the Championship. This is only their 2nd home game of the season so it would be ridiculous to write Burnley’s promotion chances off already and they may show their true colours on Saturday.

Brentford just don’t look like a side capable of keeping it tight at the back at the moment and you can see Burnley scoring at least twice here as they did against Birmingham in their other Turf Moor outing. The visitors have conceded 8 goals in 3 matches this term and are still very much a work in progress under Dijkhuizen. There is even some attacking uncertainty as they could yet lose star forward Andre Gray before the window closes with several clubs rumoured to be interested.

They won’t find anything like as many gaps in the Burnley defence as they found against 10 man Bristol City so backing a 2-0 home win here at very tempting odds of 12/1 is surely worth a punt.
