Cambridge United vs Oldham Predictions
Football is an ever changing world in which the tale of two teams may seem completely different when they face off against each other a few months on from when they last met. That is exactly the story for Cambridge United and Oldham Athletic as when they last met in March, the visitors had only recently appointed Paul Scholes as manager and things were looking up, however, his reign was short and now his former side desperately need three points in order to kick start their campaign.
Cambridge United were widely expected to find themselves in the lower reaches of League Two this season and although many picked them to retain their spot in the Football League, many believed that they would accomplish little more than that. However, the hosts have so far made a mockery of those predictions as they have been excellent in the opening stages of the season and have now kicked on, with wins coming against Colchester United and Scunthorpe United in the last few days.
The side hoping to upset the apple cart is an Oldham Athletic team who will be delighted to have finally moved on from the ‘0’ against their points tally thanks to a point earned against Exeter City on Tuesday. It has not exactly been the best of starts for the visitors this season as they have been leaky in defence and conceded 11 times in their previous five matches and, although they were able to find the back of the net reasonably frequently themselves, it should come as no surprise to learn that they have been routinely on the back end of a defeat.
Oldham Athletic may have earned a point and stopped the rot in midweek but their form is hard to ignore in the build up to this fixture. When you factor in that Cambridge have been excellent so far and a typically strong on home soil, we think that backing a home represents the safest chance for a decent return from this fixture.
We are not done there though, as the visitors have managed to grab a few goals this season and this fixture usually sees both teams find the back of the net. With this in mind, combining our initial tip of a home win with a both teams to score bet could add some good value for those looking for an increased payout.
