Celta Vigo vs Cadiz Betting Tips

Celta named a much weakened team in the 1st leg in Andalucia last week but still ran out comfortable 3-0 winners with John Guidetti scoring twice. The tie is therefore as good as over already and we are likely to see a similar side again from Vigo although they may be tempted to field a few first teamers and get some confidence back after some disappointing recent league results.

They were beaten 2-0 at home by Atletico Madrid at the weekend, which was their 3rd straight defeat in the league and they failed to score in all of those matches. Despite that Celta are still 5th in the Primera Division and as they showed in the 1st leg, they will have enough strength in depth to cope with a cup game against lower league opposition.

Cadiz are the lowest ranked side left in the competition and they are only still in it by virtue of Real Madrid fielding an illegible player in their last 32 fixture. They were 2-1 winners at the weekend in the Segunda B to move up to 3rd in the table but to put things in perspective they are still 1 place behind Sevilla’s B team and don’t really have the sort of quality needed to test sides from the top flight.

Celta Vigo will just want to safely negotiate this game and then focus on the league match with Levante this weekend. We can expect a professional performance from them and at 5/6 they are worth backing to do what they did in the 1st leg and win to nil.

This will be another chance for some fringe players to stake a claim for a regular starting berth although they may not have the same intensity they found in the 1st leg given progression has been all but secured. Therefore consider backing Celta to win 2-0 at 9/2.
