Charlton vs Wrexham Predictions

Wrexham are the best bet to win at Charlton on Saturday. They have won on four of their last five Championship away trips and can secure another victory at The Valley.

They are 12 places and 13 points above Charlton in the table. The hosts are 18th in the Championship with ten wins, 11 draws and 13 losses from their 34 games this season, while Wrexham are sixth, having won 14, drawn 12 and lost eight.

Wrexham beat Portsmouth 2-1 in their last game on Tuesday to keep up their recent winning trend. Sam Smith opened the scoring for Wrexham on 23 minutes and Max Cleworth also notched, as they restricted Portsmouth to one shot on target. They were priced at 21/20 to win the game and justified their position as favourites.

Wrexham are in better form than Charlton. They have won four of their last six Championship matches and are aiming for a third straight success, having lost just one of their last seven league games. In contrast, Charlton are without a win in three games.

The home side’s defence is causing concern. It is three Championship games since Charlton last recorded a shutout, and they have kept just one clean sheet in their last eight matches.

The hosts have struggled to find the back of the net this season, with just 17 goals at home in 16 games – an average of barely more than a goal a game.

Wrexham to win away 2-0 looks a decent correct-score bet. No Championship team’s games have finished with fewer than three goals more times than Charlton’s this season (21), and three of Wrexham’s 14 victories have been by a 2-0 scoreline.
