Brilliant Brugge can cause a shock

Coming into this Champions League opener on the back of four successive victories which was capped off with a 4-0 win in the Bruges derby last time out, Club Brugge are in high spirits.

On the other hand, Leverkusen make the journey to Belgium on the back of a 3-2 defeat to Freiburg over the weekend, damning them to a shocking five defeats from their opening six games in the 2022/23 campaign.

Brugge have won just one of their last 12 encounters with German sides, but current momentum suggests that this one could be a much closer affair than the odds suggest.

Going for goals

One positive for Leverkusen is that their sole victory this season came on the road and that was their most recent away game, a 3-0 victory in Mainz. They’ve already conceded four goals in a defeat to third tier German opponents though, so it could be wise to take Leverkusen’s favourite status with a grain of salt.

While we fancy Brugge to continue their fine momentum with a shock victory here, we’re only confident enough to back them in the correct score market for small stakes.

As for the main selection, both sides should have enough in the locker to trouble each other and as such, a BTTS & over 2.5 goals selection looks like the smart play.
