Coventry vs Sheffield Wednesday Predictions
Coventry have scored three goals or more in 14 of their 41 Championship games this season, and no team has more goals than their 84. The best bet may well be that both teams score when they host Sheffield Wednesday at the CBS Arena on Saturday.
Coventry are top of the Championship, with 25 wins from their 41 games this season, while Sheffield Wednesday are propping up the table with just one win so far.
Coventry have won eight of their last ten Championship matches, while this is a difficult spell for Sheffield Wednesday, with 16 defeats in their last 18 league games. They are on a losing run of 11 straight away games.
Sheffield Wednesday’s 1-1 draw with Leicester in their last Championship game on Monday kept up their recent trend of matches with both teams scoring. Jerry Yates gave Wednesday an early lead in the second minute, but Leicester hit back through Jordan Ayew. Wednesday didn’t see much of the ball, having only 30.4% possession, and they would have been far happier than Leicester with the draw, having been priced at 5/1 to win the game.
Both teams are struggling defensively, with Coventry failing to keep a clean sheet in three of their last four games against Sheffield Wednesday, and the visitors having the worst defensive record in the Championship this season, conceding 82 goals in 41 games.
It would be a surprise if Coventry failed to score. The goals are flowing for the hosts, who have averaged over two goals a game in their nine Championship games against teams in the bottom six this season.
A 3-1 home win for Coventry is an appealing correct-score bet. Sheffield Wednesday are on a losing run of 11 straight Championship away games, and Coventry have won nine times this season by a two-goal margin.
