Crystal Palace vs Sheffield United predictions for Saturday’s Premier League clash at Selhurst Park. Sheffield United continue their hunt for a first Premier League win of the season when they visit Crystal Palace. Read on for all our free Premier League predictions and betting tips.
Saturday’s 3pm kickoff at Selhurst Park is set to be one of the most uninspiring games of the New Year as two sides desperately struggling for form face off.
Crystal Palace did manage to arrest their losing run with a 1-1 draw at home to Leicester, but Roy Hodgson’s side remain winless in five matches and have slowly started to sink towards the relegation battle.
The Eagles now sit 15th in the table, although still have an eight point cushion on the bottom three. This represents the perfect opportunity for them to get back on track, but with just three goals in their last five games it could be a struggle for them.
Despite only being 16 games into the 2020/21 Premier League campaign, Sheffield United are already facing a mountainous task to escape the relegation zone.
The Blades – who performed so well in their return to the top flight last season – are still without a win in the Premier League. They have picked up just two points all term, leaving them some 11 points off safety and showing no signs of turning their fortunes around.
Like the hosts, Chris Wilder’s side are desperately struggling for goals. They have scored just eight top flight goals all season and their last three matches have featured a total of just four goals.
Unsurprisingly, we’re opting for the under 2.5 goals market on Saturday, but we are expecting the Blades to get something from the game. Palace look one of the most uninspiring teams in the league right now and three of their last five games have ended 1-1. They haven’t kept a clean sheet since their season opener against Southampton, so another 1-1 stalemate is our correct score prediction.
James Tomkins could continue in the centre of defence after making his first start of the season against Leicester, while Patrick van Aanholt and Eberechi Eze are set to return to the starting lineup after being rested in midweek.
John Lundstram remains suspended for Sheffield United, while midfielder Sander Berge is sidelined and Oliver McBurnie is a doubt here. John Fleck and Oli Burke are expected to return.
