Crystal Palace vs Sheffield United Predictions
- Sheffield United’s first three games of 2024 have featured a total of 15 goals
- Crystal Palace have won just one of their last 12 games in all competitions
- Crystal Palace have kept just one clean sheet in their last 12 matches
- Odsonne Edouard has scored six times in the Premier League this term
Blades and Eagles both struggling in Premier League
Sheffield United have long looked destined for the drop in the Premier League this season but Crystal Palace have also been sucked into the battle at the bottom in the last few weeks.
The Blades are on ten points from 21 matches and it would take an almighty effort to steer them to safety in the remainder of the season but they should not be written off against Palace on Tuesday.
Although on 21 points Palace have more than double Sheffield United’s tally, the Eagles are still in anger with only five points between them and the relegation zone.
Indeed, Crystal Palace have been struggling for the last couple of months and their 5-0 hammering by Arsenal last time out prompted talks between the club’s chairman Steve Parish and manager Roy Hodgson.
Expect goals to flow at Selhurst Park
One of the big issues facing Palace is how many goals they have been leaking with the Croydon club having conceded at least twice in seven of their last 12 games.
The mauling by the Gunners was particularly concerning and given Sheffield United’s issues at the back as well, goals could be the way to go in this one at Selhurst Park.
Although beaten, Sheffield United played their part in a thrilling 5-2 defeat to Brighton in the FA Cup on Saturday, meaning their three games since the turn of the year have featured a total of 15 goals.
Four of their last five matches have featured over 2.5 goals and it could be worth combining a bet on that with both teams to score for the best value.
Stalemate could be on the cards in Croydon
As for a correct score pick, it is hard to make an argument for either side.
The Blades have won only one of their last seven games – and even that was only against Gillingham in the FA Cup – while Crystal Palace are winless in 2024.
With that in mind, a score draw could be the way to play it with 2-2 making appeal.
There should be goals in this clash at Selhurst Park and one player who could benefit is Odsonne Edouard.
Edouard is Palace’s top scorer in the Premier League this season with six strikes, one of which was the decider when Palace beat Sheffield United in the reverse fixture on the opening day of the season.
