Brentford vs Derby County Predictions

  • Derby are without a win in their last five Championship games (D2, L3).
  • Brentford have won three of their last four league matches.
  • The Bees go into this clash fourth in the table and 27 points superior to the 19th placed Rams.

Bees to outclass the Rams at Pride Park

Brentford remained in contention for automatic promotion with a hard fought 0-1 victory at Blackburn on Friday night and the Bees should enjoy further success on the road here against a Derby side who are without a win in five (D2, L3).

Talisman Ivan Toney’s 26th goal of the campaign secured a vital three points for Thomas Franke’s side at Ewood Park to temporarily lift them back into second place, however, Watford responded with a 1-2 triumph at Cardiff the following day to re-establish a three point lead.

Brentford have a game in hand on the Hornets, although they’re also three points behind third placed Swansea who have played the same number of fixtures. It means the Bees quite simply have to win again this Tuesday and we really are at the stage of the season now where none of the automatic promotion challengers can afford to slip up.

The Bees could only manage a goalless draw against Derby in December’s reverse at Griffin Park, but they should have enough class to emerge victorious in this week’s encounter.

The visitors are 27 points superior to the 19th placed Rams in the Championship standings and arrive at Pride Park on the back of three wins from four. The hosts have drawn two and lost three of their last five following a 0-1 defeat against Millwall here on Saturday and the goals have really dried up for Wayne Rooney’s men of late.

The Rams are now without a goal in their last four league starts, so we’re confidently tipping up the visitors to land the spoils at Pride Park via a 0-2 score-line.
