Partick Thistle 1-0

Reason for tip

Under 2.5 goals has landed in Dunfermline’s last six matches, and none of those featured both teams scoring. Partick have put together an impressive defensive record, and they can continue their unbeaten run with a 1-0 victory.

Dunfermline vs Partick Thistle Predictions

  • Partick took 10 points from four meetings between these sides this season
  • Dunfermline failed to win any of their six home meetings with the top three
  • The visitors are unbeaten in 14 league games, conceding only 11 times in that run

A bridge too far for Dunfermline

Dunfermline held out at Arbroath to progress in the Scottish Premiership’s promotion/relegation playoff, but they could struggle against a Partick Thistle side that finished second in the Championship’s regular season.

Partick finished 15-points clear of Dunfermline, the same distance between the hosts and the bottom two. Partick lost only four games all season, and they picked up three wins from four meetings between the two sides.

Fourth-placed Dunfermline won only two of their 12 league meetings with the side above them, failing to win any of their matches at home. They were beaten 2-0 when the sides met in April, part of a 14-game unbeaten run in the league for the visitors.

Partick haven’t lost any of their last six visits to this ground, and they should continue that hoodoo in Tuesday’s first-leg. The hosts conceded only 11 times across their final 14 fixtures of the campaign, and that should give them a solid foundation from which to grab a first-leg victory.
