      Genk vs Napoli Predictions

Having suffered the ignominy of a 6-2 battering in the opening round of Champions League Group E fixtures against Red Bull Salzburg, Genk will be out to restore some pride against Serie A club Napoli this week.

Genk’s Austrian annihilation would have been a severe shock to the system, and though they recovered to win two domestic games on the spin, few expect the Belgians to make it a hattrick of victories against Napoli this week.

Carlo Ancelotti’s men opened their Champions League campaign with a hugely impressive 2-0 win over current title holders Liverpool in Naples, though the Partenopei regularly fail to match their superb home turf performances in European away matches.

Napoli are currently without a win for six Champions League away fixtures, and their last away triumph of any description in the competition came all the way back in 2017 against Nice.

Wednesday represents a chance to turn that poor record in a more positive direction however, and Napoli will be confident of beating a Genk team that were blitzed for six in their last UCL outing.

In Serie A, Napoli’s away form has been much more positive of late. Ancelotti’s side emerged as victors from two of their three league games on the road since the summer, and Italian champions Juventus were their solitary conquerors.

Napoli plundered a noteworthy 11 goals in that trio of away contests, though the fact that they shipped seven at the other end suggests that there are gaps that can be exploited in their backline.

With that considered, we recommend backing the Napoli and both teams to score combination for Wednesday’s game.

Genk are demonstrably the weakest team in the group, though they did manage to hit the net twice against Salzburg despite their eventual heavy defeat – in fact, the Belgians failed to score in only one of their last 15 competitive matches overall since last season.

Our correct score prediction takes that into account, and we’re tipping Napoli to take three more Champions League points with a 2-1 win in Genk.
