Germany vs Latvia Predictions

  • Germany have scored exactly three goals in four of their last seven home internationals.
  • Latvia have conceded 20 goals in their last seven World Cup and Euro 2020 qualifying away games – at an average of just less than three.
  • Ilkay Gundogan has scored six times in his last 13 starts for Die Mannschaft.

Gundogan can shoot Germany to warm-up win

Germany host Latvia in Dusseldorf on Monday in their final warm-up prior to a tough Euro 2020 finals opener against France eight days later.

Joachim Low will be looking for an improved display on their 1-1 home draw with Denmark and Germany’s opponents appear hand-picked to ensure they get it.

Latvia, who took just three points from a possible 30 in Euro 2020 qualifying, saw off neighbours Lithuania 3-1 on Friday to reach the final of the Baltic Cup.

But with only four European teams currently ranked below them by Fifa, everyone knows the scale of Latvia’s task against the four-time former world champions.

Dainis Kazakevics’s men have achieved some interesting results this year, giving Turkey a counter-attacking lesson in Istanbul to earn a 3-3 draw in World Cup qualifying.

That came a few days after some heroic defending had kept a rampant Dutch side out for long periods in Amsterdam.

So we think Germany will have to be patient, but that their pressure will tell in the second half to run out comfortable winners on Monday by a score of 4-0 or more.

Low is expected to include Kai Havertz, Antonio Rüdiger, Timo Werner and Ilkay Gündogan in his line-up after granting all four extended leave from the squad after their Champions League Final exertions.

Gundogan’s recent goalscoring form for club and county makes him a value pick in the anytime goalscorer betting.

The ex-Borussia Dortmund star has scored 15 times in 32 club appearances in 2021 and bagged six goals in his last 13 international starts.
