      Walsall Draw No Bet

      Reason for tip

Walsall dug deep to win 2-1 at home to Swindon in their League Two opener and they rate strong draw-no-bet appeal given that they are unbeaten in nine meetings with Gillingham, who continue to look toothless in attack.

      Walsall 1-0

      Reason for tip

Twelve of Gillingham’s last 13 League Two matches have gone under 2.5 goals so Walsall may have to settle for a slender 1-0 success.

Saddlers showing no sign of playoff hangover

Despite suffering playoff final heartbreak to AFC Wimbledon last season, Walsall composed themselves enough to grind out a 2-1 victory at home to Swindon in their League Two opener.

That doesn’t tell the full story, however, as the Saddlers played with ten men for 70 minutes and landed the spoils with a well-worked injury-time goal from full-back Connor Barrett.

That is testament to their character and that belief, after narrowly missing out on promotion, means they have to be feared.

Gillingham were held to a 1-1 draw at Accrington in their League Two curtain-raiser and their equaliser was an own goal, with them failing to register a single shot on target.

A lack of bite up front was Gills’ chief problem last season as they limped to a 17th-placed finish, scoring only 41 times in 46 games.

A full pre-season under the stewardship of Gareth Ainsworth can be no bad thing but it may take time for them to fix their striking woes and they won only ten of their 23 home games last term.

So, with Walsall perhaps not going to drop off as many first feared, they may be the most likely winners and rate strong draw-no-bet appeal given that they are unbeaten in nine meetings with Gills.

Twelve of Gillingham’s last 13 League Two matches have gone under 2.5 goals so Walsall may have to settle for a slender 1-0 success.
