      Tip Reasoning

Heerenveen enjoyed a good season in 2014-15 and the start of 2015-16 has already provided a pretty good example of why. They dealt with newly promoted De Graafschap in convincing manner and then earned a relatively unremarkable, but still valuable, 1-1 draw with FC Utrecht last weekend.

However, one surprising fact about Heerenveen is that they have quite secretly been a bogey team for PSV over the last few seasons. In fact, in their last five games against the defending champions and perennial contenders, Heerenveen has won three, drawn one and only lost one. They are now aiming for a fourth straight victory on home turf.

Throw in PSV’s unconvincing opening weekend 2-2 draw away from home against ADO Den Haag and general concerns that this squad is distinctly weaker than one year ago and you have the recipe for the perfect upset, right?

Yes, PSV has lost a few players, most notably Depay, but they’ve still got plenty of quality, especially for the Eredivisie. De Jong will have a big role to play and Narsingh has already scored a pair of goals.

This is a team that will score goals, they won’t be stopped in that, it’s more a question whether they can avoid conceding enough. The defence hasn’t been outstanding and it’s still tricky to judge just how impressed we should be with the 2-0 home win over Groningen.

However, we’ll take PSV to end the jinx that they’ve had in their recent travels to the Abe Lenstra Stadion. This is a side that is in search of a statement win, facing a side that will surely sit back, we’ll take the team with positive intent to be rewarded at this point in the Eredivisie season.

In general, you’ll rarely have the chance to bet on PSV at near even odds, even against a decent side, those are very good odds on the defending champions.
