      Hibernian vs Morton Predictions

A hurting Hibs side will welcome Championship outfit Greenock Morton to Easter Road as the visitors look to cause the Hibees even more damage. Can Hibs get back to their winning ways?

Hibs’ 2nd game of the Scottish Premiership season ended in an embarrassing 6-1 thrashing by Rangers. Paul Heckingbottom’s side had high hopes going into the clash, as they had won their opening game against St Mirren in extremis the week before.

Hibs’ first-half performance was one to forget, as they quickly went 2-0 down within the first 15 minutes thanks to a Jermaine Defoe double. The Edinburgh club did manage to pull one back 5 minutes from half-time, but after Sean Mackie’s sending-off, their final 15 minutes were disastrous. Hibs collapsed and opened the flood gates, as Defoe got his hat-trick, Alfredo Morelos got a double with Sheyji Ojo rounding the scoreline off nicely for the Gers.

Greenock Morton will go into this game on a more positive note than their upcoming opponents. The Inverclyde club have just come from a convincing 4-1win when they hosted Alloa Athletic in the Scottish Championship- a score that allowed them to climb to 3rd place in the table.

Bob McHugh got the scoring underway for Greenock in the first 5 minutes, but the Ton soon conceded as Kevin Cawley brought thing level. However, the second half saw Reece Lyon put Greenock back in front, and Andy Graham’s sending-off helped the hosts cement their win as McHugh completed his hat-trick with 15 minutes to spare.

Last week’s result proved that Hibs still have a long way to go before they can seriously compete for silverware, although they could use this game as a stepping stone and as a way of regaining their confidence since they’re playing at home and Greenock are a much weaker side. However, the Ton have only lost twice in their last 6 games, so the Hibees could struggle here. We’re going to back the Edinburgh club to win and for both teams to score, with the hosts to win with a final score of 3-1.
