      Tip Reasoning

      • Both teams have scored with at least three goals in the game in three of Hull City’s last five league matches.
      • Both teams have scored with at least three goals in the game in seven of the last 13 Reading away league contests.
      • Lucas Joao has scored four goals in his last three appearances for the Royals.

Royals’ fightback suggests there could be better to come

Reading staged a remarkable fightback from 4-1 to claim a point at home to Swansea on Monday and must be considered dangerous enough to get the win over home favourites Hull City on Saturday.

Paul Ince’s team have displayed some good qualities in recent weeks and, in Lucas Joao, have one of the hottest strikers in the Championship right now. The Portuguese ace has hit four goals in his last three appearances to take his tally into double figures, putting him among the Championship’s top six finishers to have played 20 games or more – on a goals per minute basis.

Joao’s potency makes Reading an interesting option in the match result betting at almost 2/1 here, especially given Hull had lost their six previous games at MKM Stadium prior to Good Friday’s battling win over Cardiff. That result has not turned the Tigers into anything new and different under Shota Arveladze, who has found the squad to be pretty much as inconsistent and ineffective as the last manager did.

Both teams to score and goals on the menu

Looking at Ince’s reign since he replaced the unpopular Veljko Paunovic in February it would appear he has had a positive impact with four wins and three draws from 11 games enough to pull out of the bottom three and to the brink of survival. They aren’t safe yet, however, so should be fully focused on getting something from this.

It won’t be easy for the Royals, who are still capable of shooting themselves in the foot – as we saw on Monday, but Reading should certainly cause enough trouble to the Tigers’ defence to score one or maybe two on their travels. The Royals have hit eight goals in their last five away games while Hull have conceded nine across their last five on Humberside.

Both teams to score with at least three goals in the game looks worth a wager here given it would have landed in the majority of Reading’s away games since November and it’s just occurred in three of Hull’s last five at home. A 2-1 away win for the Royals is favoured because of their greater consistency away (three undefeated) compared to their hosts’ woes (one win in seven).
