Both teams to score market is attractive at San Siro

Inter Milan welcomed the chance to escape their domestic frustrations in midweek when they travelled to Amsterdam to beat Ajax 2-0 in the Champions League on Wednesday evening.

A period of adjustment was expected for Inter following the departure of popular boss and serial winner Simone Inzaghi in June, though a return of two defeats from three Serie A fixtures was still seen as an underperformance.

There are likely to be more bumps in the road for new head coach Cristian Chivu in the season’s early exchanges while he settles into the role, and Sunday’s encounter with newly-promoted Sassuolo has the makings of another awkward test.

Sassuolo have lost twice in three Serie A fixtures since their return to the top of the Italian football pyramid, though they were far from disgraced in a 2-0 loss to Napoli in their first fixture of the campaign.

They couldn’t match those heights against Cremonese (3-2), but rebounded to beat Lazio (1-0) last weekend and buoyed by that showing, they could score again against an Inter side that conceded six times in their last two Serie A fixtures.

Inter have the quality to bite back, however. French forward Marcus Thuram is in excellent form and bagged his fourth and fifth goals of the season against Ajax in midweek, while his usual foil in attack, Lautaro Martinez, was fit enough to earn a place on the bench in Amsterdam.

The fit-again Argentine has been the scourge of Sassuolo in the past, scoring five career goals in 12 appearances against them since 2018. With Martinez back in the fold, Inter will be tough to keep off the scoresheet, so back both teams to register.

Inter’s 2-0 win over Ajax should have a steadying effect and with their tails up, they are capable of scoring twice again against Sassuolo. With that considered, a 2-1 home win is our recommended correct score wager.
