Houston earned a point against LAFC as the pair played out a six-goal thriller but like LA Galaxy they suffered a 2-1 defeat at the hands of Portland Timbers, but a win on Friday could see the club progress from the group stage.

Our prediction for over 3.5 goals being scored in Friday’s clash carries plenty of weight. Five of the last seven meetings between these two clubs have produced over 3.5 goals. LA Galaxy’s last match and four of Houston Dynamo’s last six outings have also produced over 3.5 goals, with Galaxy’s last game seeing eight goals scored.

In terms of a final scoreline, we’re predicting a 3-2 win for Houston Dynamo as they are the slight form favourites and have a good head to head record against Galaxy in recent seasons. Neither side can claim o be in great form but with one win, two draws and three defeats from their last six matches, Houston Dynamo have been picking up better results of late. LA Galaxy are without a win in their last six matches, losing four times, and have lost three of their last five games against Dynamo and have conceded three or more goals in four of the pairs’ last six encounters.
