Las Palmas vs Athletic Bilbao Betting Tips & Predictions

Las Palmas come into this game having already secured survival which is a fine achievement given they were hot favourites to go down in the Autumn having made a poor start to their first top flight campaign in 14 years. Despite last week’s 3-2 defeat at Granada, they remain in the top half and could move as high as 8th if they can win this. They’ve taken 7 points from their last 3 home games and battered Espanyol 4-0 in their last game on Gran Canaria.

Athletic Bilbao are a stronger side than them though and could be really tough opposition here. They’ve had the rare luxury of a week off to prepare for this game and with Aduriz returning from injury last week and getting on the scoresheet too they could cause Las Palmas quite a few problems. They moved into 5th place above Celta Vigo, the side they beat, last weekend and will be motivated to stay there given it would give them automatic entry into the group stage of the Europa League. That would certainly benefit them given they had to start in the qualifying rounds in July this season, which was far from ideal.

Both managers will be targeting the win here then and it could be a good contest between two sides who like to play attacking football. There have been over 2.5 goals in 6 of Las Palmas’ last 7 home games and in 4 of Athletic’s last 5 away games and both teams should have their full compliment of forwards and attacking midfielders here so goals look likely and backing there to be over 2.5 goals at 8/11 might be the best way to go.
