      Lazio vs Bologna Predictions

There’s some different about Italian football when Lazio are playing well. Their character and mindset have always been distinct from the other dominant clubs, their fans are almost un-Italian in their love of style, sometimes even over substance.

Rome’s other club were a surprise package last season eventually completing a third place finish courtesy of a magnificent 4-2 victory over Napoli. They don’t have a reputation for cutting edge, Klose is a proven goal-scorer up front, but he’s also 37. However, Candreva, Parola, Lulic and Bigila form a midfield that can control the flow of the game.

Many expected more from Lazio in terms of buying, but this is a club that seems to determined to build in the right way. They have kept their team together, they have made some sensible additions and appear to be a deeper side than one year ago. In Serbian forward Filip Djordjevic, they might have Serie A’s next game breaker. There are more than a few tipping him to challenge Klose for a place once the youngster returns from injury.

Bologna have returned to the Italian top flight after one season in Serie B. There’s little security though for a side that could face immediate relegation. Matteo Brighi and striker Franco Brienza have been brought in. The pair provide experience, but are not necessarily the type of players who will inspire big performances in tough Serie A games like this.

Still, there are some positive signs, notably a pretty solid preseason, that Bologna has brought in enough players that can mesh well enough to compete in Serie A again. It’s not the easiest of starts for Bologna, but this club will probably know by the start of October whether they are a serious contender to be demoted or not.

In this opener, our betting tips expect Lazio to secure a comfortable win. Several of the Bologna players have limited Serie A experience, the squad hasn’t played a lot of football together and in terms of quality, they don’t match-up. Lazio’s home crowd will be amped up, the subtle summer moves should serve Lazio well and this is a good chance for the club to start the 2015-16 season on a positive note. We’re predicting an assured and comfortable 2-0 win.
