Lorient vs Nantes Predictions

Lorient should be backed to get the better of Nantes in a Breton derby at Stade du Moustoir on Saturday and add to the visitors’ recent woes.

They are nine places above Nantes in the table, with 11 points separating the two teams. The hosts are ninth, having won six, drawn seven and lost six of their 19 games this season, while Nantes are 16th with three wins, five draws and 11 defeats.

Lorient kept up their recent winning trend with a 2-0 victory away at Rennes last weekend, despite having just 31.4% possession. They have won six of the 11 games in which they’ve scored first this season (55%).

Lorient have been prolific in front of goal at home, averaging 2.5 goals a game in their four Ligue 1 home games against bottom-half teams this season.

The hosts are on a roll. Lorient have not lost in eight Ligue 1 games and have won two in a row, while Nantes have suffered five defeats in their last six.

Nantes are out of form, and backing their opponents during their current run of five defeats in six Ligue 1 games would have resulted in a profit of 4.04 units.

Nantes have been struggling for results lately, with five reverses in their last six Ligue 1 games. They have only won one of their last ten matches and their last two games have ended in defeat.

They have failed to keep a clean sheet in 16 of their last 19 Ligue 1 games.

With three of the last four Ligue 1 meetings between these sides having fewer than three goals, a 1-0 win for Lorient looks like a decent correct-score option.
