Manchester City to Win and Over 3.5 Match Goals

Reason for tip

City have not lost any of their last 30 league matches in front of their own fans and so it may be too tall an order for Ipswich to come away with a result. No side scored more home goals than City last season and so a heavy win could be on the cards.

Manchester City 4-0

Reason for tip

Three of City’s final four home matches last season saw the Cityzens score a minimum of four goals and they may continue this stunning scoring form this weekend.

Phil Foden To Score Anytime

Reason for tip

Phil Foden registered 27 goal contributions in the league last season and 17 of these came at the Etihad stadium. After not starting last weekend, he should be fully fit for this encounter.

Manchester City vs Ipswich Predictions

  • City won their opening game of the season – a 2-0 victory at Chelsea on Sunday
  • Ipswich were beaten 2-0 by Liverpool upon their return to the top flight
  • This is the first league meeting between the two sides since 2001

Cityzens could put Tractor Boys to the sword

Manchester City secured their fourth consecutive Premier League crown last season and they will be expected to get their home campaign under way in style when they host newly-promoted Ipswich at the Etihad Stadium.

The Cityzens have been formidable at home in recent years, with Pep Guardiola’s men currently on a 30 league match unbeaten run, and they won each of their three home meetings against newly-promoted sides last season – including a 5-1 thrashing of Luton Town.

Ipswich have been given a real trial by fire upon their Premier League return and gave up over 60% possession at home to Liverpool last time out, with Kieran McKenna’s men expected to have very little of the ball on Saturday.

The hosts scored the most (51) and conceded the fewest (16) home league goals last season and they could cruise to victory over the returning Tractor Boys. Three of their final four home matches last season saw at least four goals scored by the Cityzens and repeat of this feat could be in store, with our prediction being a comfortable 4-0 victory for the champions.

Foden can Phil his boots

After picking up the PFA Player of the Year earlier this week, Phil Foden will be hoping to start this campaign as he ended the last and he could produce the goods on Sasturday.

Foden did not start City’s opening encounter at Stamford Bridge – although he did replace new signing Savinho at half-time – and so should be fully fit for the weekend as he looks to better last season’s tally of 19 goals and eight assists in the Premier League.

17 of his 27 league goal contributions came at the Etihad last season and so he looks a tempting bet to grab a goal in this encounter.
