      Palmeiras vs Botafogo Predictions

      • All of Palmeiras’s goals in the group stage came in the second half
      • Botafogo have won five of their last six matches

Fogo to win battle of Brazil

Brazilian giants Palmeiras and Botafogo are no strangers to one another and their last-16 meeting at the Club World Cup could be one of the matches of the tournament to date.

The rivals have had some ding-dong battles in recent seasons as they compete for domestic and continental silverware.

Botafogo had the upper hand in 2024, when they pipped Palmeiras to the Brazilian national championship and beat the Big Green in the last 16 of the Copa Libertadores, which they went on to win for the first time in their history.

Indeed, the champions of South America have lost just one of their last seven meetings with Palmeiras and have been more impressive at the Club World Cup.

Their matchday two victory over European champions PSG was one of the standout results of the group stage, and they showed plenty of grit and determination to qualify at the expense of Atletico Madrid in their final outing in Group B.

Palmeiras topped a much softer section but won just one game, against Egypt’s Al Ahly, and may not be as sharp as their compatriots.

Botafogo’s last seven matches have all been decided by one goal and a 1-0 win for the Brazilian champions could be the way to go in Philadelphia.
