The Blue Fingers’ form is cold at best

Without a goal in their last 225 minutes of play, rock-bottom Zwolle have fallen to three straight league defeats ahead of this clash. Consequently, they cannot end this round outside of the bottom-three and are swiftly running out of games.

With AZ, Ajax, PSV and Utrecht still left to play in Zwolle’s final six league games, it is difficult to see where they will possibly pick up the necessary points for survival.

Zwolle have only beaten two bottom-half sides in home league action this season, while their home record against current top-four opponents this season is two played, two lost. As such, this could be another long evening for Zwolle.

A play-off place isn’t good enough for AZ

Just three points from the top-three ahead of this round, AZ have their sights firmly set on Feyenoord above them. Eagerly awaiting their slip up, AZ can ill afford any of their own if they want to break out of the play-off places.

Scoring at least twice in their last six away league games and with an unbeaten record in 14 of the last 15 competitive H2H meetings, it is difficult to see any other result than an away win in this clash.

The odds on an AZ win seem generous considering the sheer gulf in class. However, we are going for a slender 2-1 win in the correct score market as six of Zwolle’s eight home league defeats were by just a single-goal margin.
