PSV and Both Teams To Score

Reason for tip

PSV, who have kept only two clean sheets in 16 games this season, won 5-1 in Switzerland last week at a canter. They should win this reverse fixture even with a few changes to the side – but Zurich, who have a new coach now, have scored in their last eight away games and can notch in Eindhoven.

PSV 3-1

Reason for tip

PSV have scored 13 goals in their last four, conceding five times to average 3.25 goals for and 1.15 against while Zurich have shipped exactly three goals in two of their last four road games, which suggests a 3-1 score is possible.

PSV vs FC Zurich Predictions

  • PSV won 5-1 in Switzerland last week at a canter.
  • PSV have kept only two clean sheets in 16 games this season.
  • Zurich have scored in their last eight away games.

Henriksen has work cut out at woeful Swiss side

PSV can follow up last Thursday’s Europa League win in Switzerland with another at home to Fc Zurich, but the visitors should again find the scoresheet too.

Zurich appointed ex-FC Midtjylland coach Bo Henriksen on Monday and he will have had a few sessions to assess his squad before the trip to Eindhoven. The Dane likes his teams to press and play with a direct style, which will be a departure for this anaemic Zurich team that sit bottom of their domestic pile after ten games.

The Swiss champions were ugly again at the weekend in a 0-0 draw without injured first-choice goalkeeper Yanick Brecher. He made three saves against PSV, but could not stop the remainder of the Dutch club’s eight shots on target in a 5-1 away romp.

Clean sheets are rare for PSV

Therefore, even without a couple of injured regulars of their own, Ruud van Nistelrooy’s side should have enough to get another win on Thursday. PSV’s 1-0 win at Hereenven was not a thing of beauty either, but they showed grit and had enough class in the final third to get the only goal at a place where they had not won since 2011.

PSV’s defence picked up only their second clean sheet of the campaign, but until it becomes a trend, the smart play will always be to back them with BTTS in the game. Hence, the correct score forecast of 3-1 to the hosts here.

PSV have scored 13 goals in their last four, conceding five times to average 3.25 goals for and 1.15 against while Zurich have shipped exactly three goals in two of their last four road games.
