Reading vs Leeds Betting Tips

Reading
    Leeds

      Tip Reasoning

Both clubs suffered late setbacks in the opening round of fixtures. Reading were handed a chance to secure a point at St. Andrews when they were awarded a last gasp penalty. However new signing Orlando Sa spurned that opportunity in the 8th minute of stoppage time and Reading sank to a disappointing 2-1 defeat.

Leeds looked to be on the way to three points at home to Burnley in their opener thanks to a wonder strike from Mirko Antenucci but Sam Vokes popped up with a late equaliser for the Lancashire club and the points were shared.

However under Uwe Rosler, Leeds look like a more settled outfit after the uncertainty and numerous managerial changes of the past few seasons. We also shouldn’t forget that they finished above Reading last season and didn’t concede a goal against them so it is hard to understand why the hosts are odds on to win this game.

Reading have lost 6 of their last 9 home Championship games, winning only once. One of those defeats was against Leeds back in February when the Yorkshire side won 2-0 at the Madejski so they have recent memories of success at this ground.

This could be a tough season for Reading who struggle for goals and couldn’t break down a stubborn Colchester side in the Capital One Cup until the 115th minute in midweek when Chris Gunter netted the only goal of the game.

Paul Mcshane and Stephen Quinn have arrived from Hull and are experienced if not spectacular signings. Orlando Sa was prolific in Poland last season but may take some time to settle into English football and was unsuccessful in his only previous spell in this country, when he made just 3 starts for Fulham 4 seasons ago.

Therefore there is value in backing Leeds to get a result here at 10/11. They may not have enough going forward to come and win the game but should be able to secure at least a low scoring draw so it’s worth having a flutter on a 1-1 scoreline at 11/2.
