Reading vs MK Dons Predictions
Reading were fairly unimpressive going forward last season and have started this campaign in a similar way. They’ve scored just two goals so far but have been relatively tight at the back and have 2 points to show for their troubles. Their only home game resulted in a drab 0-0 draw and their might not be an enormous amount of drama here either.
The Berkshire side haven’t scored in any of their last 5 Championship games at the Madejski Stadium and both teams have scored in just 3 of their last 19 home league games. Those stats alone suggest that there might be plenty of value in backing ‘No’ in the Both Teams to Score market here at 5/6.
Much has been made of MK Dons 100 goals in League One last season and they carried that into the opening day with a 4-1 win at Rotherham. However Karl Robinson is a smart young manager and looks to have realised already that they will have to be a little tighter in the way they set up in the higher division.
Their last two games have both resulted in 1-0 scorelines with them coming on either side of it. They beat Bolton in midweek but there weren’t many chances in the game and MK Dons ground out a result.
They may try to do the same again here but it might be a little tougher against a Reading side that are solid at the back with Anton Ferdinand and Paul McShane at the heart of their defence.
Reading came within minutes of picking up a 1-0 win at Hillsborough on Wednesday in what was their most impressive performance of the season. They let a late goal in but will take heart from that showing and may use their extra experience to pick up a narrow win here.
They aren’t playing well enough to suggest they’ll run away with it but certainly at 11/2 they are worth a flutter to win the game 1-0.
