Both Teams To Score

Reason for tip

Real Betis have only kept three clean sheets in their 18 games in 2023, while both teams have netted in seven of their last 11 home outings. Espanyol meanwhile have seen both teams score in nine of their last ten fixtures in La Liga

Real Betis 2-1

Reason for tip

Real Betis have scored two or more on four occasions at home in the league this season, registering two 2-1 wins. Espanyol have netted exactly once in nine of their last 11 fixtures, but also conceded at least two on seven occasions, including three 2-1 defeats

Real Betis vs Espanyol Predictions

  • Both teams have scored in seven of Real Betis’ last 11 home league games
  • Six successive Espanyol fixtures have seen both teams net
  • Betis have conceded in eight of their last 11 La Liga matches at Estadio Benito Villamarin

Can Betis bounce back?

A shocking run of form of just one win in seven matches across all competitions is threatening to derail Real Betis’ season as they seek European qualification.

Manuel Pellegrini’s side have been conceding far too many goals, managing just three clean sheets across their 18 games in 2023, 11 of which have seen both teams score.

Both teams have also netted in seven of their last 11 outings at Estadio Benito Villamarin, where they do tend to hit the back of the net, scoring in all bar three of their 16 league fixtures since May 2022.

The Green and Whites have a bit of a selection dilemma on their hands for this one though, with Sergio Canales and Aitor Ruibal both suspended after being sent off in last week’s 2-0 defeat to Cadiz.

Espanyol on a wretched run

If Real Betis’ run is shocking, then Espanyol’s is even worse, with five defeats in a row meaning they have plummeted down the table and into the relegation zone.

Goals are certainly not their problem, as they have scored in 16 of their 17 games since the World Cup. The issue is at the other end, thanks to just one clean sheet in their last ten La Liga outings.

As such, both teams have netted in nine of those ten matches, while new manager Luis García, who lost his first game to Athletic Bilbao 2-1 last week, is without Aleix Vidal (suspended) and injured defender Brian Oliván

I predict that both teams will score in this game, but I expect Real Betis to register a win with a 2-1 victory.
