Red Bull Salzburg and Both Teams To Score

Reason for tip

Salzburg are unbeaten in their last eight home fixtures and should have too much Champions League know-how for Brest on their own patch. However, the Austrians have conceded in each of their last six home fixtures in the competition, a trend that continue on Tuesday.

Red Bull Salzburg 2-1

Reason for tip

Three of Salzburg’s last six home wins in the Champions League have come by a 2-1 scoreline and they will be facing a Brest side that may have struggled on the road this season, but they did score in defeat at Paris Saint-Germain recently.

Red Bull Salzburg vs Brest Predictions

  • Salzburg are unbeaten in their last eight home matches across all competitions
  • The Austrians have conceded in each of their last six Champions League home games
  • Brest have lost all three of their away matches this season

Salzburg to bounce back on home soil

Salzburg and Brest made contrasting starts to their Champions League campaigns on Matchday One, as the Austrians were comprehensively beaten 3-0 away to Sparta Prague in their opener, while the French outfit were 2-1 winners on home soil against Sturm Graz in what was their first ever match in the competition.

Those results could mean there are one or two nerves jangling amongst the home supporters on Tuesday, but Salzburg do boast a strong home record, as they are unbeaten in their last eight matches on their own patch.

Pepijn Lijnders’ side also come into this game on the back of domestic wins over Wiener Viktoria and Austria Vienna, while they will be facing a Brest team that have struggled on the road this season.

Brest poor on their travels

Only Paris Saint-Germain and Monaco boasted a better away record than Brest in Ligue 1 last season, but Eric Roy has seen his side lose all three of their away games so far this term, including Friday’s 3-0 defeat at Auxerre.

This will be Brest’s first-ever European away game and they may struggle against a team with Salzburg’s continental experience, with the Austrians having beaten the likes of Sevilla, Dinamo Zagreb and Lille on home soil in the Champions League over recent seasons.

However, Brest did net in defeat at PSG recently and are capable of getting on the scoresheet in this one as well.

Three of Salzburg’s last six home wins in the Champions League have come by a 2-1 scoreline and that result could bear fruit again on Tuesday.
