Roda JC vs Feyenoord

Promoted this season, Roda JC have performed better than expectations so far in 2015-16. They opened the season with a 3-1 win over Heracles, they then lost to Vitesse, but quickly bounced back with wins over De Graafschap and AZ Alkmaar.

Last weekend, they were held to a 0-0 draw by NEC and there are still questions about the ability for this team to consistently compete in the top flight. However, they’ve shown plenty of positive signs early this season.

Feyenoord have four wins and are actually ahead of PSV in the table, but they’ve been less impressive than both PSV and Ajax. Most notably, they were dominated and eventually beaten 3-1 a couple of weeks ago by the defending champions.

They weren’t completely convincing in last weekend’s victory against Willem II and there’s some concerns that Dirk Kuyt might not be the sole solution up front for this club.

1. Importance of game

We think that Feyenoord will attach a degree of importance to winning this tough road match-up, even at this early stage of the season.

2. Room out wide

Feyenoord has some depth in their midfield and we think that they’ll find some room out wide and possibly between Roda JC’s defence and central players during this game. They don’t need to be too clinical.

3. Roda JC comes down to earth

They don’t look like a top half team and probably won’t be. In this game, we expect a little bit of a rock back to earth for Roda JC.
