Romania vs Poland Predictions

Romania have remained largely unchanged from the style of football that took them to France in the summer so far in this World Cup Qualifying campaign. They opened with a 1-1 draw at home to Montenegro before hammering Armenia 5-0 and then playing out a goalless draw in Kazakhstan.

This leaves them 3rd in the group with a two point gap between them and the top two sides, and to be honest they might be disappointed with their performances in the two draws. The trip to Kazakhstan was a difficult but still very winnable match, and playing at home against one of their challengers for the runners up spot should really have resulted in a win.

Romania’s struggles to win aside, they are a very difficult side to beat at home. They have lost just one of their last 17 home games, although eight of those ended all square in the end.

Poland, despite all their talents, have had some issues winning on the road recently. Like Romania they couldn’t overcome a resilient Kazakhstan side on their home turf and came away with a 2-2 draw. They have won both of their matches since then, but both have been played at home.

On the road Poland have won just four of their last 15 matches, drawing six and losing five of them. They have also never beaten Romania, so the odds are stacking up in the hosts’ favour at the moment.

However, I don’t think Romania will be able to get the win on Friday. Both teams have struggled to claim all three points in recent times and considering Romania have drawn eight of their last 17 at home and Poland have drawn six of their last 15 on the road I think a stalemate could be on the cards here. Backing this at 21/10 could prove a very good move, and I’m going for that along with a 1-1 correct score prediction at 5/1.
