Reason For Salford City vs Tranmere Predictions

  • Salford are unbeaten in four league games this season, keeping clean sheets in three of those outings
  • Tranmere have won only one of their first four League Two fixtures, failing to score on three occasions
  • Salford have lost only two of their last 14 league two games

Big-spending Ammies should maintain unbeaten start

Salford and Tranmere were two teams favoured by the layers for the promotion at the start of the season but it is the big-spending Ammies who have started the brighter of the pair.

Salford have won two and drawn two of their opening four games, while it took Tranmere until the fourth time of asking to get off the mark. Rovers scored their first goals of the season as they won 2-0 at home to Scunthorpe last week.

Prior to that, the visitors had been held to goalless draws at Mansfield and Cambridge and suffered a humiliating 3-0 defeat at home to Cheltenham, who limited Mike Jackson’s men to just one shot on target.

Salford, who have bolstered their frontline with the signing of Ian Henderson and have a midfield three consisting of Richie Towell, Darren Gibson and Jason Lowe, should prevail.

The Ammies have lost only two of their last 14 league games and three clean sheets from their four assignments this term highlights their dedication to the cause.

Rovers have quality in their ranks – a striking partnership of James Vaughan and Stefan Payne is tasty – but they have failed to score in three of their four games and it appears it is going to take time for them to settle.

A Vaughan brace provided them with a 2-0 home win over Scunthorpe last weekend but the Iron were more than competitive – they tied the shot stats 11 apiece – and more is needed against a Salford side with title ambitions.
