City aren’t quite right yet under Enzo Maresca. They may well come good but Lens away was arguably the worst road trip from Pot 4 while Napoli and Leipzig represent stern tests from Pot 3. And then there’s PSG and Barcelona. Altogether a tough test.

The home game against Bodo/Glimt and trip to Slavia ought to be the bedrock of a campaign in which Dino Toppmoller’s impressive group – who have already beaten PSG in the French Champions Trophy – can emerge successfully.

Barcelona could easily lose in Paris, legitimately drop points at Galatasaray and at home to Man City. One more slip and the top eight could feasibly elude them.

National League leaders Boreham Wood have won eight of their 10 matches this season, and they’ve put together a three-game winning streak at home. However, they’ve conceded in each of their home matches so far.

Luxembourg have won four of their five matches this year, including victories in Albania and Bulgaria in their previous two matches. Iceland are winless in seven, and they were beaten 3-1 in Luxembourg in 2023.

The Swiss have won 13 of their last 20 matches, and they should prove too strong for a Scotland side that made a meek World Cup exit. However, BTTS has landed in the hosts’ last four competitive games at Hampden, and in nine of Switzerland’s last 13 outings.

Southend are second in the National League, but they fell to a 4-2 home defeat to Barrow last weekend. They’ve been happy to try to outscore opponents all season, with both teams scoring in nine of their last 10 matches.

Wales have lost their opening two games of this international break without scoring, with injury issues hampering Craig Bellamy’s side. Norway suffered a 2-1 home defeat against Portugal on Sunday, but they created the majority of chances. They face an easier test in Cardiff, and they should be able to return to winning ways.

Austria claimed 3-1 wins over Israel and Kosovo in Vienna, and they look like the strongest side in this Nations League group by a distance. The visitors have scored three times in four of their previous six matches, and they should prove too strong for this Irish side.

After snapping their winless run with a victory over Real Salt Lake, the Seattle Sounders claimed a 3-1 victory over Minnesota United last weekend. Sporting KC have lost 17 of their 26 matches this term, and they’ve conceded three or more in eight of their 10 away defeats.

Bohemians have won four straight matches to move within a point of top spot in the League of Ireland. Dundalk have lost four of their last six league games, and they’ve suffered three straight defeats at home. The Bohs have won nine of 15 away trips this season, including a 3-1 victory at Dundalk.

Albacete’s loss at Girona on Friday was their sixth in seven matches this season. Albacete have lost all three home matches so far, while they were beaten 3-0 in this fixture back in April. Eibar have made a perfect start on their travels this term with three wins, and they can ease to another victory on Saturday afternoon.

Grimsby Town are in the playoff spots largely due to their home form, having picked up three wins from four in League Two this season. They host a Shrewsbury side that has lost at Tranmere, Fleetwood and Rochdale without scoring.
