Sheffield Wednesday vs Reading Betting Tips

Reading only won one of their final ten matches last season in the Championship and they have made a slow start to this one losing 2-1 at Birmingham on the opening day before an uninspiring goalless draw at home to Leeds.

It could be another long season at the Madejski after a poor 19th place finish last season. Only a run to the FA Cup Semi-Finals lifted the gloom but if the first two games are anything to go by they are unlikely to be contenders at the right end of the table this term.

Hillsborough was certainly not the place to be for entertainment. Of their 23 home games, 18 of them had 2 or fewer goals in them while there was never more than 3 in any of their home encounters. Their opening home game this year also featured only 2 goals and with Reading struggling going forward, backing there to be 2 or less here at 4/6 is surely worth a bet.

Wednesday have one win and one defeat so far after beating newly promoted Bristol City 2-0 on the opening day prior to a Capital One Cup win also at Hillsborough against Mansfield. However they were beaten 2-1 at Ipswich at Portman Road at the weekend and sit where they finished last season, in the safety of mid-table.

Reading’s visit here ended in a 1-0 home win last season and you certainly couldn’t rule out a repeat result here given Sheffield Wednesday have made the better start and again look slightly the stronger side. Certainly odds of 6/1 on a 1-0 win for Wednesday appeal.
